Did you know you can share files with students or accept student work electronically? Every teacher has a Hand-In and Hand-Out folder. These folders are located on our school server. You can access them through the folders in your Dock.
When you first click your Hand In or Hand Out folder, a new window will open with large icons of teacher folders.
Sometimes, it is difficult to click around in this view. It may be more helpful to scroll to the bottom and click the Open In Finder icon.
When you click the Open in Finder button, the same list of teacher folders will open in a Finder window.
To share a file with students or teachers, simply drag that file into your "Hand-Out" folder. To see any files students have placed in your "Hand-In" folder, simply double-click it to open.
Everyone (teachers and students) can see files in your Hand-Out folder. They can drag a file to their desktop if they'd like to open it. ONLY YOU can add or remove files from your Hand-Out folder, and ONLY YOU can open files in your Hand-In folder.
The Hand-In/Hand-Out folders are a great opportunity to use less paper. You can share documents with students electronically instead of copying several class sets. You can also accept assignments from students electronically rather than having them print everything.
You can only access these folders when you are on the school network, so if you plan on taking student assignments home, you would need to click-and-drag them out of your Hand-In folder and into a new folder on your computer's desktop (or wherever you'd prefer to save them).
