Many of you may have noticed that when you delete files from a USB drive you don't automatically have the free space restored. Eventually, you could delete everything from your USB, but not have any available space to store new items.

Your USB drive has its own separate trash. When you delete files from your USB drive those files are stored in a Trash bin on the USB drive.  To get the space back you need to Empty the Trash while your USB is mounted. This will remove everything from the Trash, both on your hard drive and on any mounted disks, and will free up the newly available space for more storage.
